Black, Brown, and Queer Ceramicist Club

In 2020, I initiated a transformative endeavor by founding the Black Brown and Queer Ceramicist Program in collaboration with RedBrick Ceramic Studio. Through a successful crowdfunding campaign, I secured sufficient funds and resources to facilitate a welcoming space for artists over a span of eight months. Throughout this period, more than 20 talented Black, Brown, and queer artists benefited from the program, gaining invaluable access to instruction, supplies, and full utilization of our studio equipment and facilities—all provided free of charge. This initiative not only fostered artistic growth and expression but also promoted inclusivity and diversity within the ceramics community, empowering marginalized voices and nurturing a vibrant culture of creativity and solidarity. This grassroots program helped qualify RedBrick for non-profit status.

I’ve continued my personal mission to bring the ceramic practice to under-served communities by teaching as an independent contractor through RedBrick. I currently teach art at three schools in the East Bay.
